Some words about future game mechanics in TLE 0.1

Hello, everyone,

I’ve decided to write a post about what I’ll have to work on in the near future and what worries me these days. To be honest, the closer I get to writing the code and compiling everything I’ve made for TLE, the more anxious I get. I’m afraid of having to do something I’ve never done before and something I may have to do from scratch as I probably won’t be able to find any accurate tutorials online. But I’ve never given up because of my fears, and I hope things will go more than smoothly this time, as usual.

Now let’s take a look at what I’m planning to add to the game. I won’t go into much detail. I’ll just explain what the mechanics I’m planning to create entail.

  1. Real-time quests. Those of you who have played Dragon Age Inquisition or the old Assassin’s Creed games probably know what I mean. You send your companion on a quest, and they come back after some time has passed in the real world.

  2. An abilities panel, like in Dragon Age Origins or World of Warcraft, where you can manually arrange the abilities you use in battle as you see fit. In addition, each ability will have a hot key, which will probably be customisable as well.

  3. Buying and acquiring houses and customising them a little. I’m also planning to make it possible to hang the paintings you find on your adventures in your house in whatever order you wish.

  4. A hierarchical structure of the Faces of Shadows (kind of like the orc hierarchy in Shadow of Mordor). Perhaps the hierarchy won’t be changeable in this update, but it’s something for the future. And you’ll be able to see your position and how awesome you are.

  5. Standard repeatable tasks such as killing enemies, finding items and bringing them back to get your payment and experience. I guess there’s no need to explain what these quests are. It’s clear.

  6. Skills and talents as well as the talent of persuasion and the eloquence skill. Together, they will allow you to persuade a character to do what you need in certain conversations (those of you who have played DAO will understand).

  7. The combat system will feature a separate panel with the potions you can use. The strength of the potions will be tied to the alchemy skill of the heroine who created them. That is, if you level up Annie’s alchemy skill, it’ll be more rewarding to let her make potions instead of Lora. And as Lora, you can level up other talents and skills.

  8. A combat system that will feature 112 abilities (if I remember correctly). You have already seen these abilities in the game, but it is not yet possible to use them. This will be addressed in the upcoming update. It’ll be possible to combine certain abilities, increasing their effects (those of you who have played DA will understand).

There may be something else that I can’t remember at the moment. So, we’ll let the rest be a surprise:)

If you have any interesting ideas regarding game mechanics (perhaps you enjoyed certain mechanics in other games), let me know in the comments. If I like it, I’d be happy to add something similar to my game.

With love,

MrgT
